Linyi is the city most closely identified with wood-based boards and panels in China. The China National Forest Products Industry Association awarded it the sole national title of China's Board Capital in 2011 (re-verified 2022), covering Lanshan district, Yitang town and surrounding areas, where boards sit with impregnated paper, adhesives and wood-processing machinery in one local chain. That national role does not make this a one-city industry in our sample: Linyi accounts for 8% of the suppliers profiled here, Foshan 6% and Beijing 4%, the top three cities together hold only 17%, and the category spans 101 cities. Among 288 suppliers profiled, the largest shares sit in Linyi, Foshan and Beijing.

For a buyer, the supporting supply chain for boards and panels themselves is strongest in Linyi. Elsewhere the mix changes. Foshan, second in this sample, is a furniture production and distribution base in Shunde and Nanhai rather than a dedicated board-mill district, so firms profiled there may make or trade furniture that uses panels rather than produce the boards. Beijing and other cities that appear in the ranking have no confirmed boards manufacturing cluster in the available research.
