An independent read
on China’s factories.

FactoryBase gives overseas buyers one honest, evidence-based file on a Chinese supplier — before a shortlist, before a sample order, before a deposit. Here is who builds it, why, and the line we will not cross.

The problem we kept seeing

Sourcing from China still starts the same way: you search a product and a hundred “factories” appear. Which are real manufacturers — and which are shells, re-labellers, or a single trader behind a borrowed catalogue? The evidence is scattered across business registries, customs records, marketplace stores and company sites — most of it in Chinese, much of it slow to answer, plenty of it with no English site at all. Tianyancha and Qichacha hold the records, but they are built for domestic users, not for an overseas buyer doing due diligence the night before wiring a deposit.

Why we built it

We are Guangzhou ModalCube Technology Co., Ltd. (广州模酷科技有限公司) — a studio that builds websites and runs SEO for Chinese manufacturers (modalcube.com). Working that side of the market, we saw two things at once: our factory clients squeezed by a red-ocean market and thin inquiry volume, and the buyers on the other end with no independent way to tell a capable factory from a facade. FactoryBase is our answer to the second problem — and the surest way to fix the first is to help genuinely good factories get found by serious buyers.

THE LINE WE WON’T CROSS

We sell to factories. So the wall is absolute.

We won’t dress this up: we sell websites and SEO to factories, and FactoryBase rates those same factories. That only works with a hard wall between the two — so here it is, plainly:

  • Assembled by AI, identically for everyone. Every dossier is built by our AI from public evidence, the same way for every company. There is no human hand tilting a rating.
  • No one can pay to look better. Placement and scores are never for sale — not to strangers, and not to our own website clients.
  • We never score the company. No composite “supplier score”, no A/B/C grade. We grade the website a factory built — a fixable object — never the company itself.

If a factory is our client, its dossier reads exactly as it would if it were not. See the full methodology.

Where we’re headed

Our goal is simple: to be the first place an overseas buyer looks before shortlisting a Chinese factory — an independent, machine-readable baseline that a person, and increasingly an AI assistant, can trust.

Longer term, we want to change the incentive, not just the information. When how well a factory serves buyers online is measured and made public, the factories that genuinely invest in that experience are the ones buyers reach first. Our website score already puts a supplier’s digital service on the record; live RFQ-response tests and more are next — so good factories win, and buyers stop losing weeks to the ones they can’t reach.
